Bank barns were a popular 19th century barn style in the USA and were popular throughout the east coast. These structures were sometimes referred to as "basement barns" because of their exposed basement story. Although they date back to the mid 1600s in Great Brittan the majority of bank barns existing in the US today date from the late 1800s through the early 20th century.
Our Bank Barn currently consists of 3 stone wall. We plan to reinforce the walls and construct a barn back on the existing site. The Bank Barn will house farm displays and antique equipment. It will be a great addition to the Living Farm Heritage Museum.
